Woburn Toyota has been a part of Woburn for almost 50 years! We love it here and thought we would let you know a little about the city we call home.

Settled in 1640, Woburn is one of the oldest and most historic communities in New England. It is nearly the head of the Mystic River Valley halfway between Lowell and Boston. Traveling in Woburn couldn’t be easier. There are 2 interstate highways, and public transportation via bus, train, and commuter rail.

It is a community with a long tradition of civic participation, volunteerism, and a passion for sports & recreation.

First settled in 1640 and incorporated as a distinct township in 1642, Colonial Woburn once encompassed the modern Massachusetts towns of Wilmington, Burlington, and Winchester, but these communities eventually broke off into separate townships. Woburn is now a small city comprised of about 38,000 residents.

The Woburn of today is a mix of quiet residential neighborhoods, vibrant office and industrial parks, and wooded conservation areas, such as the Horn Pond Reservation, Forest Park, and Shaker Glen. As a result of its long history, virtually all the historic architectural styles typical of New England are found in Woburn. These include the Baldwin Mansion, built in 1661 by Deacon Henry Baldwin and altered to its present Federal-era appearance by his great-grandson, Colonel Loammi Baldwin in 1803. The Woburn Public Library was also the first public library designed by the great Victorian-era architect H.H. Richardson, his first work after completion of his masterful Trinity Church in Boston.

We hope that gives you some insight to the wonderful city of Woburn!

The season is here for simple delicious food and that is what our Newton Toyota dealership is bringing to you in this post. Ever need to bring something to a bbq or cookout and want to try something new? This is the recipe for you. It is nothing short of amazing and perfect for any summer occasion. It is the perfect balance of fruit, vegetables, and cheese all in one fresh dish. I have also made this as a side salad without the chicken and switched the romaine to spinach and it was just as delicious. If you like less dressing I would serve it on the side and prepare to your liking.

Sensational Summer Salad

Ingredients

3 (6 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

1 cup Italian-style salad dressing

1 Granny Smith apple, cored and diced

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 head romaine lettuce, chopped

1 avocado, diced

4 ounces feta cheese, crumbled

1 1/2 cups diced fresh strawberries

1 cup dried cranberries

3/4 cup balsamic vinaigrette, or to taste

Directions

Place the chicken breasts and Italian dressing into a resealable plastic bag. Mix together to coat the chicken with the dressing, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil grate.

Remove the chicken from the marinade, and shake off excess. Discard the remaining marinade. Grill the chicken breasts until no longer pink in the center, or to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C), about 3 minutes per side. Set aside to cool while preparing the ingredients for salad, then dice.

Toss the diced apple with the lemon juice in a large mixing bowl until well coated; drain and discard any excess lemon juice. Place the lettuce into the mixing bowl, then sprinkle with the diced chicken, avocado, feta cheese, strawberries, and cranberries. Gently toss the salad with the balsamic vinaigrette, and serve immediately.

This salad is sure to please even the pickiest salad eaters. Give it a try and let us know what you think. If you change anything let us know about your preferences. Enjoy!

My Boston Toyota dealership was good to me and my owners liked their salesman there. Being a 2010 Toyota Prius, I was surprised I had been in stock more than a week at my dealership in Boston. Toyota had equipped me well and I was glad when my new family showed up and seemed so happy to buy me.

My owners are a young couple with two little boys. Considering the boys are so young, they’re very well behaved and haven’t spilled anything in me yet. They’ve also developed their parents’ taste for seafood at a young age. That’s why yesterday they drove me into Boston to go to a fun seafood restaurant in Boston Harbor.

On the way in, I got 50mpg! My family always plays this game when they drive me, where they try to see how little gas they can use getting from once place to another. It’s a lot of fun and I get to show off how efficient I am. When we got to The Barking Crab in Boston, my owners parked me and my family got out. It was a nice evening and a lot of people were walking near the harbor. I got lots of looks and comments since I’m a particularly well equipped Toyota Prius.

When the family came out I noticed the boys had butter all over their faces from eating lobster! I was so worried that would be the first time I got food on my seats, but luckily my owners wiped their faces right before they got in. Hopefully we go back soon. I’m a big fan of Boston. Toyota made me so nice to drive that my family has only had me two months and have already driven me far enough for my first oil change. They said they’d bring me back to Woburn Toyota next weekend for my first oil change. That should be fun.

Last week my Boston Toyota dealership, Woburn Toyota, had a really busy week. I was very hopeful that I would get sold. Being a 2010 TRD Edition Toyota FJ Cruiser, I knew it couldn’t take too long. Sure enough, mid week, a young guy and his wife came over to look at me. They liked me a lot and took me for a test drive.

They had asked the salesman if they could take me down a bumpy dirt road to test out my Bilstein shocks and he agree. It was a lot of fun and was the first time I’ve done any real driving off the Woburn Toyota lot. To boot it was even on dirt! Two firsts in one day!

When they brought me back to my Toyota dealer Boston they went right inside to talk to their salesman. About an hour later they came outside and shook his hand, having bought me. I was really excited.

After being cleaned, they picked me up the following day. Just yesterday, they took me out for the most fun I’ve ever had. They drove me on an off-road trek through some hills in New Hampshire. I drove through water and over rocky boulders and I got so dirty. Later in the day my new owners took me through a car wash. What a fun day!

Spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner. At norwood toyota we think these easy trends will have you in tip top shape for summer as a lot of this springs trends are flowing right into the summer weather.

First trend of the season is neutrals. This is one of the easiest trends to incorporate into any wardrobe. A simple touch of beige or flesh can be added to black to make a bold statement. You can also have a monochromatic look with a neutral tone from head to toe.

Next on the list is peek-a-boo. We are seeing cutouts in everything from evening gowns to casual tops. Showing a little skin through a mesh stripe or intricate woven top adds instant depth and intrigue to any outfit. The sheer peek-a-boo could be anything from lace to mesh or complete cutouts to bands and straps. This one is a little trickier, but still having coverage over the cutouts makes it a bit easier.

Third we have an old classic brought back to life – metallics! We have seen this trend in the past, disco anyone?, but designers have added some glitter, glitz, and shimmer. We are seeing metallic pants to shimmery dresses and we are loving it! There are sequins and sparkles ranging from tiny to exotically large. Just remember, metallics and sequins reflect light making the object under them appear larger. Make sure you choose something flattering for your body type.

Then we have….feathers! Now this is probably the hardest to pull off and isn’t recommended for everyone. Feathers create a frothy look, but do add a lot of bulk. So curvy ladies beware! A simple, easy way to get the trend is with some feathery earrings or hair pieces. There are also some feather accented dresses and tops without all the bulk.

Another easy trend is the school spirit look. Get this look with knee socks, preppy stripes, gym clothes, and academic blazers. You can even mix and match this look with other trends of the season such as a striped top with a feathered skirt or a neutral top with an academic blazer. This look is as simple as it sounds. Who can’t pull off gym clothes?!

And working ladies will love the new leisure suit! These looks have are alive with jet-setting attire and effortlessly put together leisure dressing. From thin tee-like tops, to satin capri pant suits, loose fitting blazers and relaxed flowered tops this look is everything except uptight.

We hope we sparked some great ideas for your spring wardrobe. Just add a few of the trends to update your whole summer look! Let us know which trend is your favorite in the comment section below.

So another rainy day here at our Norwood Toyota Dealership made us start thinking about soup. Not just any soup…Pasta Fagioli! With the raw weather we started dreaming about it. So we decided to post the recipe for the best pasta fagioli we ever made. It was called Pasta Fazool so here it goes….

Pasta Fazool

2 tbls. light olive oil

5 lbs. lean ground beef

5 tbls. dried basil

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1-12oz. can italian tomatoes with juices, diced

1-16oz. can cannelini beans

5 lbs. uncooked ditalini pasta

Salt and pepper to taste

parmesan cheese

extra virgin olive oil

Start by heating the oil over medium heat and browning the meat well. Lightly season with salt as your browning. Adding salt as you introduce a new ingredient into your dish is a good way of maintaining balance in your dish.

Make sure you make all those brown bits in the bottom of the pan, this will provide a lot of flavor later. Add the garlic and basil and cook for about 2 minutes more or until garlic is soft. Add tomatoes and simmer for 30 minutes.

Add your canned beans and about a cup of water. Allow this to boil, then add your uncooked pasta, Lower the heat to med-low and watch that the bottom doesn’t stick. The noodles will take longer to cook in this thick sauce than the usual 9-10 minutes but it is worth it. if needed, add some hot water as you go along.

The original recipe calls for the noodles to be cooked separately but I find that adding them directly to the stew makes it even heartier. Season with salt and freshly ground pepper. Add a pinch of basil to freshen it up and your ready to serve!

Ladle into bowls and top with extra virgin olive oil and freshly grated parmesan cheese. Mangiamo!

If this doesn’t fill you up and make you feel all warm inside I don’t know what will! Enjoy!

It is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and there are so many things you can do everyday to help the planet we live on. Those everyday things can have a lasting impact on our world and environment. At our Woburn Toyota Dealer we encourage our employees to help out in any way they can. Here are a few things you can do to help out.

Use your own bag at local stores. This isn’t only for groceries. Carry a bag with you for all purchases. Many bags fold up very small and can be stored in a purse. When purchasing clothes, shoes, household items, or just about anything, pull out your own bag and save a plastic or paper one.

Visit local farmers markets and try to eat locally sourced foods. This may not seem like a way to help, but think of all the fuel and emissions saved when your food is local!

Make sure lights and electronics are turned off or unplugged. We all know this one so keep those switches in the off position! Also, switch your bulbs out for energy efficient bulbs. They cost slightly more, but last a lot longer. Another simple step with lasting effects!

Here is a great one for all you office workers. Use a coffee mug everyday instead of paper or Styrofoam cups. This saves 260 cups a year! You can also refill a plastic container for water instead of buying bottles of water. You can’t imagine how many bottles this saves.

If you have any more tips feel free to share them in our comments section!
