What Can You Do To Help The Earth?

Energy Efficient Light BulbIt is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and there are so many things you can do everyday to help the planet we live on. Those everyday things can have a lasting impact on our world and environment. At our Woburn Toyota Dealer we encourage our employees to help out in any way they can. Here are a few things you can do to help out.

Use your own bag at local stores. This isn’t only for groceries. Carry a bag with you for all purchases. Many bags fold up very small and can be stored in a purse. When purchasing clothes, shoes, household items, or just about anything, pull out your own bag and save a plastic or paper one.

Visit local farmers markets and try to eat locally sourced foods. This may not seem like a way to help, but think of all the fuel and emissions saved when your food is local!

Make sure lights and electronics are turned off or unplugged. We all know this one so keep those switches in the off position! Also, switch your bulbs out for energy efficient bulbs. They cost slightly more, but last a lot longer. Another simple step with lasting effects!

Here is a great one for all you office workers. Use a coffee mug everyday instead of paper or Styrofoam cups. This saves 260 cups a year! You can also refill a plastic container for water instead of buying bottles of water. You can’t imagine how many bottles this saves.
